Life with two French Bulldogs is never boring.
If someone asked me what it’s like to own two French Bulldogs, my answer would be simple:
Chaotic. Hilarious. Exhausting. Worth every second.
Every day starts and ends with Zeus and Electra, and no two mornings are ever exactly the same.
Good Morning… Sort Of
The day starts as soon as I open their kennel.
We actually have a double kennel, but most nights they choose to sleep together in one side. We originally bought the larger kennel because we thought they’d each want their own space, but apparently personal space isn’t something either of them believes in.
The moment the kennel door opens, Zeus is ready to start the day.
Electra? Not so much.
First stop is outside for a potty break, followed immediately by breakfast.
Breakfast Is a Team Sport
Like many dog owners, we originally tried feeding them separately.
That lasted about as long as you’d expect.
For whatever reason, they actually prefer eating together—especially Electra.
Every now and then one of them gets a little protective over the food, but most mornings they’re perfectly happy sharing their meals from the Frenchie feeding trough we bought for them.
It turns out they like eating side by side more than having their own bowls.
Zeus Has One Mission
Once breakfast is over, Zeus decides it’s playtime.
His favorite morning activity?
Dragging their blanket out of the kennel and trying to convince Electra to play tug-of-war.
Electra has a different plan.
She’d rather finish waking up, enjoy a few cuddles, and receive the attention she believes she’s entitled to.
Zeus isn’t interested in waiting.
His strategy usually involves nipping at her ankles or grabbing the loose skin around her neck and attempting to drag her across the kitchen until she finally gives in.
Eventually…
She does.
Once Electra decides she’s awake, the house instantly turns into a racetrack.
The two of them sprint laps around the kitchen, bounce off furniture, chase each other through every room, and generally forget they’re supposed to be small dogs.
Unfortunately, Electra has one habit that almost guarantees the excitement comes to an abrupt stop.
She loves to chug an entire bowl of water before breakfast.
After about thirty seconds of zoomies…
…there’s a pretty good chance that water is coming right back up.
If you own a Frenchie, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about.
Meanwhile…
While all of this is happening, I’m just trying to eat my breakfast and get everyone ready for school and work.
Zeus and Electra, however, have other plans.
Personal boundaries don’t really exist in their world.
If there’s food on the table, they fully believe it belongs to them.
Yes, they occasionally jump up trying to investigate what’s on our plates.
Then the Zoomies Begin
And yes…
We’re actively working on that with training.
Progress is… ongoing.
Time for Work
Once the morning excitement settles down, it’s time for everyone to head out.
The dogs spend the day in their kennel while we’re at work.
Depending on the day, though, one of them gets to come with me.
I’ve learned the hard way that bringing both of them to work is complete chaos.
So they take turns.
Whoever stays home usually settles in after a few minutes.
Unless it’s Electra.
If she realizes she’s the one staying behind, she’ll spend about five minutes crying dramatically before deciding that maybe a nap isn’t such a bad idea after all.
Would I Change Any of It?
Absolutely not.
Life with Zeus and Electra can be loud, messy, and completely unpredictable.
Some mornings include tug-of-war, zoomies, spilled water, attempted breakfast theft, and a little bit of chaos before I’ve even finished my coffee.
But those are also the moments that make life with two French Bulldogs so much fun.
I wouldn’t trade our crazy mornings for anything.
🐾 Frenchie Lesson
Every French Bulldog has its own personality.
Zeus and Electra taught us that every French Bulldog has a different personality. Instead of expecting them to behave the same way, we’ve learned to adjust our routines to fit each dog’s needs.
